Neapolitan uses "tenere" (to have) to form constructions that would have typically used "avere" (to have) in Italian are somewhat common. For example in Italian, in order to say "I am hungry" you would say "Ho fame." In Neapolitan, one would say "tengo fame," this is quite close to the Spanish construction, "tengo hambre".

Similarly, the use of "stare"instead of "essere" seems much closer to the Spanish use of "ser" and "estar". In Italian, if you wanted to say she is beautiful, you would say "lei è bella" but in Neapolitan one would say "sta bella"
